Debt is a Trap from the World Seeking to Enslave People to Mammon, and Devour Souls

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2).

The Bible warns about not following the world (Romans 12:2), loving the world (1 John 2:15), or being friends with the world (James 4:4).

The world is an organised system designed to not only to encourage sinners to sin, but to seduce those who resist sin into sin, and enslave them to sin. It seeks to not only enslave, but actively force people to enslaved to the world's systems. The prince of the world is not passive in seeing sinners sin. His focus is on the saints, hell-bent on ensnaring them into the systems of the world, seeking to seduce them with all kinds of allures. Of the most dangerous allures he uses is the allure of ease, comfort and security.

Debt is a powerful way of alluring people. There is a whole system in the western world designed to enslave people to debt. That rent is much more expensive than owning a home over the same period of time is a deliberate manipulation of the market to appease the banks. This is truly frightening, as it only shows how hell-bent the system is in trapping, almost as if coercing people to get into debt, just to buy a home.

As such, even many Christians are unfortunately getting into debt for years, if not decades. Many Christians are constantly criticising Christian mothers for working in a full-time job, as being unbiblical. They say that house prices have gone up because both persons work. That, however, is only a very small, if not negligible part of the entire picture. The rise in house prices is largely owing to market manipulation by governments and banks, rampant property investment by the rich in multiple properties, and of course, the willingness of so many to borrow money to buy a house.

The rise of house prices which require most people to get into debt for years to own a house is entirely the result of a system designed to enslave people to banks.

So, what should a Christian do?

He or she needs to radically trust in God, and rely on Him, with utter dependence. Remember there is not a good thing which you have which does not come from Heaven. Know that no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly (Psalm 84:11).

One needs to radically change one's mind into fully accepting that one is to pursue God, and not pursue wealth or the needs which wealth buys. Rather, it is only when one serves God first, that he will give you all your material needs. Work is designed by God to pursue Him, and not finances. Finances will come from God after. Pursue God first, and let the finances come to you. Do not pursue finances, and then seek God later. To seek one's needs first, even if legitimate needs, is to have little faith:

Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
(Matthew 6:30-34).

If a Christian needs, not wants, a house, he should plead his case before God, stating why he needs a house, and how he needs it to glorify God, and not himself.  He should plead that he seeks not to get into debt for debt enslaves one to mammon, and he refuse to bow the knee to mammon. He should then give an reason acceptable before God as to why he needs a house, be it to raise a family, provide a place for an elderly or needy family member to live, or start on orphanage or whatever it may be.

God does amazing things when one truly trusts in Him, and absolutely refuses to be independent of God, but rather, totally acknowledging that all things are from Him, and that one depends on Him for all things.

No matter what, do not get into debt for the borrower is servant to the lender (Proverbs 22:7). Debt may seem like a quick or convenient way to get what one needs, but he provides false promises. You will feel the pains of getting into debt when you borrow money, in knowing you brought it upon yourself, failing to trust in God.

If you are in debt, repent of your self-reliance  and ask God for His grace in getting your out of debt as soon as possible. Ask this so that you may be able to fully and truly serve Him, by being released from the bondage to mammon (Matthew 6:24).

Do not be seduced by debt, not even for a house. It will enslave you to debt who will be your master, and therefore, you will not be able to serve God.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon (Matthew 6:24).

Signs of a Person under the spirit of mammon

Both the unsaved and saved can be under the spirit of mammon. Do not be deceived! An unsaved person can only serve mammon because it is not part of his nature to submit to God in any way (Romans 8:7). However, the Christian can most definitely yield to the temptations of mammon just as he can yield to the temptations of satan. This is what is means for a Christian to be under the spirit of mammon. The signs of a person being under the spirit of mammon are: The person does not understand the spirit of mammon. This is because he or she is blinded by it and therefore cannot see it. The person reacts whenever being confronted with being told that they are under the spirit of mammon, or being told that they may be under it. This is not the person themselves reacting, but the spirit of mammon reacting. The person is self-satisfied with the abundance that they have. This is especially the case with many Christians today. They are happy with having a family, a well-paying job, security

Two types of contentment

The world seeks contentment. It seeks to be contented in pursuit of all kinds of things, whether it be money, health, wealth, romance, sex, careers or family. It does not necessarily seek after riches to be content. However, that one does not seek after money as the first priority, but other things that are typically associated with good traditional values, such as family, does not in any way mean that one is content in the godly sense. By no means! A person can be a "conservative" and "religious" but just as earthly as the "liberal". There are two types of contentment: earthly contentment and godly contentment. Earthly contentment finds its fulfillment and satisfaction in things that are passing away, not necessarily money, but also things like family, education and children. Yes, that's right. Many professing American Christians think that they could never be under the spirit of mammon because they care for their families and love their families, a

The spirit behind Debt, the spirit of Mammon, seeks to Blind, Control, Enslave and Dominate by debt

Many people just cannot understand what usury is for what it is. Thus, in order for people to understand what exactly usury is, they must be made to understand debt first. Debt is not merely money to be repaid. It has power. Debt indeed is power, which comes from a source not from God: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12).  One can discern that debt has a power behind it if one uses one's godly discernment. Debt brings spiritual bondage to a person, not merely financial bondage, but spiritual bondage. The real issue with debt for all people whether unsaved or saved is that it keeps people from fully serving God. It is a spiritual stronghold of mammon that panders to the flesh, to make a God-hater even more hostile against God, by feeding on his flesh to increase its appetite even more. It is also a spiritual stronghold
