How doing "good works" feeds on envy

One might argue, how exactly is it that the world hates the poor and needy. After all, you may say, it is full of charities that help the victims of sex abuse, domestic violence, children with diseases and mentally ill people.

One must also notice what types of causes the world does not usually support, if ever. It does not support:

• Children in the womb who are headed for the slaughter (through abortion);
• Elderly people who are not the typical favoured groups of the secular liberals: that is, elderly non-homosexual males who are Christians and not liberal;
• Widows who are poor and virtuous  (true widows as 1 Timothy 5:3-16), not promiscuous, self-sufficient and proud, under the guise of "independence", and thus, mammonised
• Orphaned children
• The needy
• The poor
• The disabled

The Bible already identifies these "groups" to be vulnerable and ignored by the world, by commanding the true Church to help these groups. These "groups" that the world ignores and hates, and loves to mock, scorn, falsely accuse or trample on, or the "groups" that the world loves to use to attack the Church for failing to be loving, or to treat with a false sense of sympathy:

• Orphans (Job 29:12; James 1:27)
• Widows (1 Timothy 5:3-16; James 1:27) 
• The needy  (Job 29:16; Psalm 41:1)
• The poor  (Job 29:12; Psalm 41:1; Proverbs 29:7)
• The disabled, which includes the blind and the lame (Job 29:15; Mark 2-12; Mark 8:22-25)

The world only "helps" these people, who it hates to show on the surface how "kind", "tolerant", "caring" and even "loving", if the world even has such a  proper concept, it is. All the good works the unsaved do for these people are filthy rages for the good works of the unrighteous are filthy rags to the Lord (Isaiah 64:6). 

The world loves to "help" these people to feed their ego and their fleshy, worldly false sympathy and sense of care towards those who they perceive to live such as "sad life" because they have no or little access to earthly things which are all really just "vanity of vanities" (Ecclesiastes 1:2). This is the only and only reason why the world would even think about helping these "groups" who the Bible commands to help. God explicitly makes these commands because already knows that humans need to be told.

It is because precisely that no natural person would give up all his or her self to help these people that God commands it so. You may argue with anger and indignation, that "this is not true", as there are many unbelievers who do help the poor, sick and disabled. That may indeed be very true. However, whenever the unbeliever does it, he or she does it not in any way to please God, but rather to act in hostility against God, because that is the only thing the unbeliever can do.  He cannot submit to God (Romans 8:7), not does any of his works please God for he has no faith (Romans 8:8; Romans 14:23; Hebrews 11:6), that is, faith alone in the one true God, not faith in false religions or false doctrines.

The unbeliever doing these "good works" which they cannot do sets up an idol and worships it, manifested in all his actions, including the so-called "good works" of the unsaved. The "good works" of the unbeliever are a manifestation of the flesh. The evidence of this is the manner of spirit the unbeliever helps the poor, sick, needy and marginalised. 

The unsaved help these people who the Bible commands us to help, based on their own flesh. They provide worldly, fleshly, and earthly support to these people, based on their earthly, worldly, sensual, ungodly and demonic wisdom (James 3:13-15). This is manifested in their strife and envy which motivates them to help the specific groups that the Bible explicitly commands people to help (James 3:16). James 3:13-16 says:

Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.  But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.  This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

James 3:13-16 contrasts wisdom manifested in meekness, with that of wisdom manifested in bitter envying and strife. 

You may still argue, that I do not know all the motives of the unsaved. That is true, however, what I  do know and do not need to ask that the unsaved always act in their flesh and are all under the earthly, sensual and demonic wisdom which manifests itself through bitter envying and strife. 

Whether the unsaved want greater (earthly) harmony and seek to help the poor to ensure more harmony, as is the case in many Eastern religions, or whether the unsaved want greater "equality" and "democracy", as is the case in the secular west, this is the earthly, sensual and demonic wisdom manifested in the bitter envying and strife which these unsaved people are all feeding on. You may find this offensive on behalf of your unsaved friends if you are a Christian. However, I am not trying to offend for the sake of being offensive and perhaps even 'combative' and 'aggressive'. It is true that every unsaved person is feeds on bitter envying and strife. 

Envy is the desire to have what one does not have. It can be as subtle as thinking that one has enough in the earthly sense so as to pay off all of one's bills and expenses, and thus, accordingly, one can be (self)-satisfied with all one has. The true test as to whether one has no envy, is whether one can actually give up what one has - one's comfort, aspirations, desires, freedom, will, visions and dreams to serve, not another idol, but the one true God alone. The test is not whether one is not a careerist, or someone who works overtime every week, or whether one is in debt. Such as test ignores what envy really is, the desire to serve something other than God. 

Many in the true church today do not have victory over envy because they allow themselves to be distracted by earthly things. As long as this happens, one will be succumbing to the desires of the flesh, and thus, under tgghe spirit of mammon. Many in (true) body of Christ object to this term, 'spirit of mammon' on the basis that it shifts the blame of one's own sins to others. No! This is by no means doing so. Rather, it refers to an evil spirit that works through people, or seduces people to serve him and district them from serving God, in the case of the true Christian. 

The only reason why he can have a stronghold over people, whether unsaved or saved is because they choose to serve him or allow themselves to be seduced by him. If one shuns mammon and actively guards one's heart and mind from serving him, and his seductions, one will not be under him. As long as one does not do this, one will, not may, or possibly be, but will, be under the spirit of mammon, whether unsaved or saved.

Fighting the power of envy, and thus, mammon's stronghold over one's life is done only by keeping focused on serving God. It is not done by doing "good works". 

A person doing good works with the intention to serve God may still be under the spirit of mammon, by the very belief that he is seeking to do good works by helping the needs of others. He pities the poor for their lack of (earthly) needs, so he seek to help them materially. He makes these good works the centre of what he does, and not serving God. He is deceived in thinking he is serving God through doing good works, despite his genuine intention.  It is good works that follows serving God first and seeking Him first, not serving God that follows good works or a manifestation of good works. No. True good works are the manifestation of serving and seeking God first and wholeheartedly.

Anyone can do good works outwardly, an indicated by how even the unsaved, liberals can do so. Good works, as long as they are not purely a manifestation of seeking God and serving God first are evil.  This is precisely why the unsaved can do 'good works' outwardly - because it can done in the flesh, being empty as a result.
