Democracy and capitalism are worshipped as 'sacred cows' in the west. It must always be democracy with a capitalistic free market, or democracy with more government control over a free market. People complain about big business taking over the economy, calling for more democracy, and attributing this to a lack of democracy.
Many of the unsaved think that increased monopoly and economic inequality is due to a lack of democracy. They are right, except for one thing. It is democracy that legitimises capitalism. Democracy is not a bulwark against capitalistic tyranny as the unsaved socialists would say. Democracy and capitalism are twin sisters that have dominated the west.
Democracy legitimises the quest for rights. Essentially, rights in a democratic framework are sought for according to one's self-interests. The rule is that the individual shall do as 'thou wilt'. Human nature seeks only to do as thou wilt as satan did when he fell from grace by pride (Isaiah 14:12-20).
Indeed, democracy is a tool used by satan to enslave the human race into thinking it is self-entitled to what it wants, as it sees fit for itself. The root of democracy is humanity thinking it is entitled to what it wants, and able to reject God in any way it chooses.
Democracy is anti-Christian on the grounds that it is based on rights, and that the individual shall do as it sees fit. The spirit behind democracy is mammon, who works through the lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and pride of life in humans to blind them from seeing that all things come from God by his grace. It makes people anxious for 'rights', 'freedom' and 'equality' that the world offers, instead of seeking God.
Democracy's twin sister is capitalism. The underlying notion of capitalism that one has the right to possess what one seeks after. It legitimises a system that forces people to pay debt to obtain their earthly needs, on the grounds that one is serving others by lending money or other commodities. Like democracy, the quest for rights is inextricable from capitalism. The spirit behind one's pursuit of one's earthly things - 'rights', 'freedom' and 'equality' that the world offers is mammon.
Democracy abolishes a framework of moral laws that serve as a guide of loving others. It has no respect of moral laws of love, that is, God's Law. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love (1 John 4:8). Love seeketh not her own (1 Corinthians 13:5). Democracy, however, seeketh her own because it knows only its 'rights', 'freedom', and 'equality'. Therefore, democracy is not love nor can it provide an ethic of love. It can only provide an ethic of self-seeking individualism and ruthless dominance over others.
